The ImageCLEF Management System
نویسندگان
چکیده
The ImageCLEF image retrieval track has been part of CLEF (Cross Language Evaluation Forum) since 2003. Organizing ImageCLEF and its large participation of research groups involves a considerable amount of work and data to manage. Goal of the management system described in this paper was to create a system for the organization of ImageCLEF to reduce manual work and professionalize the structures. All ImageCLEF sub tracks having a page in a single run submission system reduces work of organizers and makes submissions easier for participants. The system was developed as a web application using Java and JavaServer Faces (JSF) on Glassfish with a Postgres 8.3 database. The main functionality consists of user, collection and subtrack management as well as run submissions. The system has two main user groups, participants and administrators. The main task for participants is to register for subtasks and then submit runs. Administrators create collections for the sub tasks and can define the data and constraints for submissions. The described system was used for ImageCLEF 2009 with 86 subscribed users and more than 300 submitted runs in 7 subtracks. The system has proved to significantly reduce manual work and will be used for upcoming ImageCLEF events and other evaluation campaigns.

Text Retrieval and Blind Feedback for the ImageCLEF Photo Task
In this paper we will describe Berkeley’s approach to the ImageCLEF “Photo” task for CLEF 2006. This year is the first time that we have participated in ImageCLEF, and we chose to primarily establish a baseline for the Cheshire II system for this task, while we had originally hoped to use GeoCLEF methods for this task, in the end time constraints led us to restrict our submissions to the basic ...
متن کاملUAIC at ImageCLEF 2009 Photo Annotation Task
The present article describes the system used for the our first participation in the imageCLEF 2009 Photo Annotation task. For the image classification we used four components: (1) first uses face recognition, (2) second one use training data, (3) third one uses associated exif file and (4) the fourth uses default values calculated according to the degree of occurrence in the training set data....
متن کاملAssessing Translation Quality for Cross Language Image Retrieval
In this paper, we show that retrieval performance for the ImageCLEF bilingual cross language image retrieval task depends upon, among other factors, the quality of query translation. In this preliminary study, we investigate translation quality and retrieval performance using the Systran machine translation system by comparing a manual assessment of translation adequacy with an automatic score ...
متن کاملIRIT at ImageCLEF 2010: Medical Retrieval Track
We reported some experiments conducted by our members in the SIG team at the IRIT laboratory in the CLEF medical retrieval task, namely ImageCLEFmed. In 2010, we are particularly interested in the case-based retrieval task. Our information retrieval approach integrates a hybrid method of concept extraction for enhancing the semantics of the document as well as of the query. More precisely, we a...
متن کاملSeven Years of Image Retrieval Evaluation
In this chapter we discuss evaluation of Information Retrieval (IR) systems and in particular ImageCLEF, a large–scale evaluation campaign that has produced several publicly–accessible resources required for evaluating visual information retrieval systems and is the focus of this book. This chapter sets the scene for the book by describing the purpose of system and user–centred evaluation, the ...
